Practice for opening title sequence

Practice for opening title sequence
When writing my storyboard and shooting script, for my opening title sequence; there is one camera shot in which I had my doubts, and whether I should include it in my sequence or not.  The shot creates an effect of the camera going through a wall. I wanted to create this shot of the camera, going from the musician’s room, through the screen, and into the sound booth room.

I began doing some research into the shot, and discovered that a lot of this has been produced in the film ‘Panic Room’ directed by David Finch. I studied some of the shots, they all looked smooth as if they did not need to be edited; the technique to creating this is to be confident with the camera, and as you panned it across the room create a type of swooping effect with the camera as if it’s going to glide through the wall.

I practised this on my smart phone and used alternative editing software, to string the videos together, it did not need much editing just one transition between films which was a cross fade, and for a amateur shot filmed and edited on my smart phone it’s not to bad, for what I will wanted to achieve in my opening title sequence.

The video you see on this post is the one I made as practise sequence for my opening title, in the end I did not use this as it does not flow correctly with the rest of my film.

Questionnaire/ Poll to identify audience Psychographics

To understand how audiences react to media products in the real world I constructed a questionnaire/poll, which will help me challenge their thoughts and implement them into my own title sequence. The reason for doing this is so that I have a clear idea of what my audiences want; and what they would like in a sequence, from these questions I will uncover their psychographics, and how they feel to towards the film industry; using their conclusions to construct an idea, of how I could form my own sequence; to challenge current media and audience conventions, through the data my research will accumulate.
