Final Edit for Preliminary Task

FINAL EDIT
FOR PRELIMINARY TASK

This is our final achievement, for our preliminary   task. (Yes! It is cheesy)... however we stuck to our brief and included the correct shots that were assigned.

Summary: the video is about a character called Barry, who opens the door, then crosses the room to confront his friend Steve;

Steve has slept with Barry’s girlfriend while he was in prison (I know gripping right!) There are then a series of shot/reverse shots of the pair talking, then the camera pans as Barry leaves the room still angry at Steve!

Story-Board for Preliminary Task

STORYBOARD
FOR PRELIMINARY TASK

In media we created story board for our preliminary task. Which was to film a conversation between two people:

We used posted notes instead of just writing straight onto the paper, as this would be more appropriate especially if we wanted to change shots or move things around.

This is now a very common thing to do in media production and the planning into films and TV shows.

For our task we were asked to include a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down opposite another character.

Which then he/she exchange some words. We should present match on action, shot reverse shot, and the 180 degree rule.

We should also consider the continuity of are video when filming.
We incorporated the question into our video by using: establishing shots to provide the viewer with a setting.

Long shots and extreme close up’s; of the character walking towards the door and an extreme close up of his hand opening the door.

Close ups of characters face to see his mood and reaction, pans and tilts as he sit down to talk to another character.

Mid-shot so the viewer will be kept focused on the dialog when the shot reverse shot is being used.

Overall I feel that we stuck to our plan, however we found that a part of our plan was ineffective when filming; as our time limit was not long enough to carry it out.

Next time we will improve this, by considering what is achievable, especially if we have a time limit.

Location Recce Sheet

LOCATION RECEE SHEET
FOR PRELIMINARY TASK
Activity at each Location.
Lighting Required? Position of sun?
Clearance for shooting agreed with owners? Is there power available? Has access been agreed? Do the police/local council need to be informed?
Audio problems, such as traffic noise or planes frequently flying over?
Action taken to overcome each problem.
·        Our Starting location for our filming assignment was the corridor in the media department.
·        The activity was fairly subdued at our location was at the very end of the corridor, there were not many student the noise was reasonably quit.
  • Our next location was the editing room E107 this room was quite, however could be issues from student, but when filming there were no incidents where other got in the way.
  • Overall the location was a good space to film.
  • The lighting in the corridor was dark; however it could be improved by adding extra lights and fixing the overhead light.
  • There was ambient lighting in the room which was a nice dynamic.
  • The access to film has been cleared as it is in the college, and we wear special identification so people know we’re from the college.
  • There was no sun light so the overhead lights were putt on.
·         The problems that we would face are the facts students could walk in the corridor.
·         Also there is noise from the air conditioner.
·         Also there is a class opposite the window where we were filming.
·         Moved to the end corridor to overcome student problem, and film when students are in lesson.
·         Air-con noise improved by turning off the conditioner.
·         To improve the fact you could see student in other room we closed the blind.
