STORYBOARD

FOR PRELIMINARY TASK

In media we created story board for our preliminary task. Which was to film a conversation between two people:

We used posted notes instead of just writing straight onto the paper, as this would be more appropriate especially if we wanted to change shots or move things around.

This is now a very common thing to do in media production and the planning into films and TV shows.

For our task we were asked to include a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down opposite another character.

Which then he/she exchange some words. We should present match on action, shot reverse shot, and the 180 degree rule.

We should also consider the continuity of are video when filming.

We incorporated the question into our video by using: establishing shots to provide the viewer with a setting.

Long shots and extreme close up’s; of the character walking towards the door and an extreme close up of his hand opening the door.

Close ups of characters face to see his mood and reaction, pans and tilts as he sit down to talk to another character.

Mid-shot so the viewer will be kept focused on the dialog when the shot reverse shot is being used.


Overall I feel that we stuck to our plan, however we found that a part of our plan was ineffective when filming; as our time limit was not long enough to carry it out.

Next time we will improve this, by considering what is achievable, especially if we have a time limit.
